Building on Basics 

August 14th to 18th 2017 DSC_0883

Our Building on Basics Program is in its 15th year of developing  Novice, Atom, Peewee and Bantam Goaltenders from Atlantic Canada as well as Quebec and the United States. The program features a group of 28 goaltenders.  

The Building on Basics Program is geared towards the goaltender that is still working on building strong fundamental goaltending skills. The Building on Basis Program was designed by Instructor Louis Guay and Dave Kennedy. It will feature two on ice sessions per day as well as two off-ice sessions. Morning sessions are devoted to Skating, Puck Handling and teaching of techniques. The afternoon session is an hour and a fifteen of shooting stations. They will be covering, breakaways, rebound control, moving into shots, behind the net play and being square to the puck. Off-ice sessions will also be included daily, goalie specific drills as well as other sports will be hosted at the Sports Dome, a short walk from the Red Ball Internet Center.

  • PM On-Ice Sessions include shooting stations and deflection boards
  • Classroom sessions with Interactive Ipad session and NHL Video

Our Staff is comprised of goalie coaches and goaltenders that have been through our programs and know what it takes to be an AGA instructor. Young and passionate, our staff will leave your young goalie with all the tools necessary to advance to the next level! Although it is a 4:1 net ratio, Jr instructors from local Bantam and Midget teams will be on hand in a effort to keep the goaltenders occupied at all times. This new initiative has allowed for goalies to stay busy during the entire ice session with no time wasted waiting for net time.

Pre Season Camp

Our Pre Season Camp is in its 4th year of developing  Novice, Atom, Peewee and Bantam Goaltenders from Atlantic Canada as well as Quebec and the United States. It is a scaled down program with sessions running daily from 8 am until 10:30 am. Again this year we will have 18 openings in the Program.

The Pre Season Camp is geared towards the goaltender that has a set of strong fundamental goaltending skills. Lead by Head Instructor and former QMJHL Goalie Coach Dave Kennedy, the Pre Season Camp will have one ice session per day as well as one off-ice session. Morning sessions are devoted to Skating, Puck Handling and teaching. Off-ice sessions will also be included daily, with goalie specific drills.

  • Daily Goalie Specific OFF-ICE Training session

Fall Program

Our Fall Program is in its 4th year of preparing goaltenders for the upcoming minor hockey season. Sessions running on Sunday and Thursday evenings with a total of 6 hours on ice. Again this year we will have 18 openings in the Program.

The Fall Program is geared towards the goaltender all levels and skills. Lead by Head Instructor and former QMJHL Coach Dave Kennedy, the Fall Program will have one hour ice sessions on Sunday’s and Thursday’s throughout September as well as one off-ice session on Sunday’s before the ice session. Thursday’s will devoted to Skating, Puck Handling. Sunday’s will be a combination active shooting stations and game situation drills. Off-ice sessions will  be goalie specific drills and will be done outside the Superior Propane Place.

Bridge Program – INVITATION ONLY

Our Bridge Program is in its 5th year of developing the top Novice, Atom and Peewee Goaltenders from Atlantic Canada as well as Quebec and the United States. The program is by invitation only and will comprise two groups of 18. Again this year we will have 36 openings in the Program.

The Bridge Program is a scaled down version and stepping stone to our High Intensity Program. Lead by Head Instructor and former QMJHL goalie coach Dave Kennedy, the bridge program uses active shooters to simulate game situations, elite puck handling drills for today’s goalies, effective rebound control techniques as well as emphasis on proper edge control and skating technique.  Morning sessions are devoted to Skating and Puck Handling. The afternoon session is an hour and a half of shooting stations covering, breakaways, rebound control, active gloves, moving into shots, behind the net play and squareness to the puck. Off-ice sessions will also be included daily, goalie specific drills as well as other sports will be hosted at the Sports Dome, a short walk from the Red Ball Internet Center.

Elite Summer Workout INVITATION ONLY

The Elite Summer Workout was designed to allow Elite Goaltenders a chance to train during the summer months. 8 sessions are spread out on Sunday Evenings to allow proper travel time. An exclusive AGA Format maximizes NET TIME, ratio is ALWAYS 2:1.  It also features our most Senior Instructors Including Louis Guay , Dave Kennedy , Brian Fleming

The Summer Workout is geared towards the goaltender that has a set of Elite goaltending skills. QMJHL Level drills are used, this camp has for purpose of working out not teaching a proper backside push/edge.  QMJHL Shooters will be on hand during the sessions.

High Intensity Program – INVITATION ONLY

Our High Intensity Program is in its 7th year of developing the top Bantam, Midget and Junior Goaltenders from Atlantic Canada as well as Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and the United States. The program is limited to two groups of 18. Again this year we will have 36 openings in the Program with a 3:1 net ratio. This Camp will feature 4 Goalie coaches with QMJHL experience as well as other Jr.A and AUS goalie coaches.

The High Intensity Program is our highest level summer program. Lead by Head Instructor Louis Guay, the High Intensity Program uses active shooters to simulate game situations, elite puck handling drills for today’s goalies, effective rebound control techniques as well as emphasis skating patterns.  Morning sessions are devoted to Skating and Puck Handling. AGA uses two ice surfaces at the same time (movements and patterns on Rink B and Puck Handling on Rink C) The afternoon session is an hour and forty five minutes of shooting stations covering, breakaways, rebound control, moving into shots, behind the net play and being square to the puck, with Major Midget AAA , AUS and QMJHL shooters ONLY. Daily off-ice sessions will also be included. Goalie specific drills as well as Specialized off-ice training sessions will take place at the Sports Dome, a short walk from the Red Ball Internet Center.
