The Instructors
Goaltending instructors are well-qualified and experienced in helping young players maximize their full potential by putting together effective drills, powerful demonstrations and by offering practical advice. Our instructors are sensitive to individual styles and focused on the goalies strengths. Shooters - Shooters alter their shots to the skill level of the goaltender.
Goaltenders' Program August 9 to 13 2010
The Charlie Bourgeois Goaltending School will provide an outstanding training program for young goaltenders. The program includes 2.5 hours (2 sessions per day) of individualized on-ice training per-day. The camp is designed for young goalies looking to build solid puck stopping skills. We teach goalies how to be strong on their feet, how to stay up as long as possible, and how to go down effectively and efficiently. Because it is the school's belief that there is no single style for playing goal, our objective is to assist goalies to develop and refine their own style of play. The essence of success is control, not style. Camp is open to goalies aged 6 years to 16. Students will be divided into groups according to ability.
On-Ice Training
The on-ice program combines close technical guidance and extensive repetition to ensure improved skills.
Part 1: First 15 minutes of each session are devoted to perfecting the goalie's skating, speed, strength, mobility, agility and balance.
Part 2: The remaining 60 minutes are devoted to building strong technical skills related to control of the body, stance, positioning and angles play; glove and blocker saves; puck handling; rebounds; net play; wrap around and screen shots; and the butterfly save.
Off-Ice Training
Professional fitness experts work with goalies
