SEPTEMBER 25th, 2023 – The Atlantic Hockey Group (AHG) is pleased to announce that it will be offering spring hockey and ringette programs in the Chaleur and Restigouche area beginning in 2024.  The Atlantic Hockey Group will provide players of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to join their very popular spring hockey and ringuette programs which features four (4) distinct levels of play – Elite, AAA as well as Prospect Series Tier 1 & 2.  The programs are geared to achieving the proper balance of on-ice training as well as providing male and female players of all skill levels the opportunity to develop and compete at the appropriate level. The ultimate goal is for our players to have fun while learning more about this great game.

AHG has made a commitment to work with other groups such as Moose U18 AAA, U15 AAA minor and major teams. High level clinics for goaltenders, defensemen and forwards as well as Power Skating training, lead by highly qualified and experienced instructors, will be included to our hockey and ringuette players community. Teams will host games therefore providing significant economic spin offs for the area.

Founded in 1989, The AHG program has become one of the most successful in Canada. Through programs such as the Charlie Bourgeois Hockey School, the Atlantic Goaltending Academy and the spring Hockey Series the Atlantic Hockey Group works with over 10,000 players each year. The network of over 500 coaches associated with the Atlantic Hockey Group also benefit from the mentorship program as well as the extensive coaching resources made available to them.

Director Charlie Bourgeois brings over 12 years of professional hockey experience to the Atlantic Hockey Group.  He began his pro-career with the Calgary Flames of the NHL.  In his seven year NHL career, he also played for the St. Louis Blues and Hartford Whalers.  His coaching career began in Europe, followed by a two-year stint in the AHL with the Winnipeg Jets top farm team.  As a head coach Charlie guided the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus to the 2004-05 Atlantic University Championship.

Bourgeois is also very pleased to announce that Charles Austin has accepted the position of Director of Operations for the Chaleur – Restigouche region.  “Having had the opportunity to work with Charles through our Atlantic Goaltending Academy, we are very fortunate to have him lead our programs in this area. Charles has always displayed a great deal of professionalism, communication skills, teaching skills and creativity in leading the development of his players.”

Our group looks forward to continuing to grow its spring hockey and ringuette programs “Having an experienced hockey person like Charles involved in our programs will be a tremendous asset to our group. It is well known in the hockey community that Charles brings a great deal of commitment and passion to the development of young hockey and ringette players.”

As for Austin “I am so excited about the future of our spring hockey and ringette programs. Together with the Atlantic Hockey Group, we will be in a position to offer our players and families the strongest Maritime Spring Series available.   “With the Atlantic Hockey Group network and resources, we will be able to offer even more opportunities for players, male and female, of all age groups and skill level!” added Austin.
