What to Expect
EXPERIENCED COACHES
Our coaches come from the ranks of university, junior, high school, and minor hockey teams.
FOCUSED DEVELOPMENT
Students will experience a variety of drills designed to development a range of fundamental skills.
OFF-ICE TRAINING
Our qualified trainers have developed a program designed for young hockey players focusing on strength, speed, and agility.
2019-2020 Programs
Novice/Atom/Peewee
On-Ice: 15 hours / Off-Ice: 10 hours
3-week program (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings)
This 3 week program will feature a minimum of 3.5 hours of on-ice as well as 3 off-ice training sessions each week. A detailed schedule will be forwarded to students prior to camp.
On-Ice Training: The program is designed to improve individual skills featuring a mixture of battling, conditioning skating featuring Bronco Belts, puck-handling as well as small area games.
Off-Ice Training: The off-ice program will touch on components such as shooting techniques, slide boards stride sessions, stickhandling drills, off-ice conditioning as well as yoga sessions.

On-ice: 15 hours
The objective of the Jon Sim Bantam Super Skills Program is to provide the opportunity for advanced players to improve their skills and move to the next level of play. A maximum of 24 players per group will be accepted. Program includes specialized training for forwards, defencemen, and goaltenders.
August 10 – August 14
Novice /Atom / Peewee
On-Ice Training: Emphasis on improved puck control and scoring ability as well as Small Area games.
Stickhandling: Deking, one-on-one play, puck protection; puck control at high speed.
Shooting: Power, accuracy, shooting in stride, quick release, onetimers, wraparounds, deking, offensive positioning and shot selection.
Power skating: Power, speed, balance and agility for effective stickhandling and shooting.
Off-Ice Training: The off-ice program will touch on components such as shooting techniques, slide boards stride sessions, stickhandling drills & off-ice conditioning.

April 10 and 11
On-ice: 12 hours
This camp’s curriculum will focus on teaching, training and developing players to apply and adapt their core skills for effective introduction to body contact including tactical corner skills and puck protection. Work on individual skills will also be incorporated in the station training component of the camp.

On-ice: 12 hours
The “Little Simmers” is a spring development program offered by Jon Sim Hockey. Beginning in early April and ending at the end of May. Sessions will take place on evenings at the Pictou County Wellness Center. The program will feature 8 x 90 minute sessions for a total of 12 hours of on-ice training. Note: This is not a learn to skate program.
Initiation / Novice /Atom / Peewee
On-ice: 7.5 hours
The program is designed to improve individual skills and to prepare the student for the upcoming hockey season.
SESSIONS FOCUS ON:
PUCK CONTROL: Stickhandling, passing, shooting, puck protection, deking and one-on-one play
GAME SIMULATION: 3 Vs 3 mini games as well as Battle drills.
Novice
On-ice: 15 hours
The Novice Winter AAA Series will feature 15 full ice games, including playoffs, of three 12 minute stop time periods.
