Program Director
Jon Sim
Born and raised in Pictou County, where he played all his minor hockey, Jon enjoyed a spectacular junior career where he spent 4 seasons with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL. He totaled 311 points including two back to back 56 goal seasons and is still to this day the all-time franchise points and goals leader. Drafted by the Dallas Stars in 1996, Jon captured a Stanley Cup in 1998/1999. Jon went on to play 469 games in the NHL. Jon's resume includes 15 years of professional hockey, 902 games played, 64 playoff games as well as 3 league championships.

The U9 Winter AAA Series will feature 15 full ice games, including playoffs, of three 12 minute stop time periods.

The “Little Simmers” is a spring development program offered by Jon Sim Hockey. Beginning in early April and ending at the end of May. Sessions will take place on evenings at the Pictou County Wellness Center. The program will feature 8 x 90 minute sessions for a total of 12 hours of on-ice training. Note: This is not a learn to skate program.
Jon Sim 2Line Spring League
The spring 2-line program is geared for female players born in 2011, 10 & 09. Teams will be made up of 10 skaters and 1 goalie. Program will take place at the Wellness Centre during the months of April and May. A total of 12 hours of ice time will be included.

On-ice: 6 Hours
This camp’s curriculum will focus on teaching, training and developing players to apply and adapt their core skills for effective introduction to body contact including tactical corner skills and puck protection. Work on individual skills will also be incorporated in the station training component of the camp.

On-Ice: 12 hours Off-ice: 6 hours
On-Ice Training: Emphasis on improved puck control and scoring ability as well as Small Area games.
Stickhandling: Deking, one-on-one play, puck protection; puck control at high speed.
Shooting: Power, accuracy, shooting in stride, quick release,
one-timers, wraparounds, deking, offensive positioning and shot selection.
Power skating: Power, speed, balance and agility for effective
stickhandling and shooting.
Off-Ice Training: The off-ice program will touch on components such as shooting techniques, stickhandling drills & off-ice conditioning.
The camp will include group leaders (supervision at all times), meal plans (optional), Jon Sim Hockey Jersey. On the ice the camp will feature a 6:1 player to coach ratio.

3-week program (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings)
This 3 week program will feature a minimum of 3.5 hours of on-ice as well as 3 off-ice training sessions each week. A detailed schedule will be forwarded to students prior to camp.
On-Ice Training: The program is designed to improve individual skills featuring a mixture of battling, conditioning skating featuring Bronco Belts, puck-handling as well as small area games.
Off-Ice Training: The off-ice program will touch on components such as shooting techniques, slide boards stride sessions, stickhandling drills, off-ice conditioning as well as yoga sessions.

The program is designed to improve individual skills and to prepare the student for the upcoming hockey season.
SESSIONS FOCUS ON:
PUCK CONTROL: Stickhandling, passing, shooting, puck protection, deking and one-on-one play
GAME SIMULATION: 3 Vs 3 mini games as well as Battle drills.
Please Note: The schedule for Fall Into Hockey is built around minor hockey start dates. Generally older age groups (U13/U15) will start after Labour day and go until mid-September. Younger age groups (U9/U11) will start mid-September.
