Young Guns

About the Young Guns
Modeled after our Atlantic Selects program, the Young Guns program has enjoyed great success since it's creation in 2010, winning 25+ championships against elite competition from Canada and the United States. Teams are made up of players from our Prospects Series in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI.
Coaching Staff and Training Camp
Each team will be led by a head coach and two assistant coaches chosen from our Prospects Series teams from Nova Scotia (NS Young Guns) and from New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island (NB-PEI Young Guns). The team coaching staff, with the support of the Atlantic Hockey Group, will structure training camps with the objective of developing team systems and specialized individual training for our players. Players will receive 7.5 hours of on-ice training. A goaltending instructor will be present for on-ice training sessions. The final team rosters will comprise of nine forwards, six defencemen, and two goalies. The final team rosters will be determined in early June.
NS Young Guns
Training Camps for our NS Young Guns teams will generally take place at the BMO Centre in Halifax or the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
NB-PEI Young Guns
Training Camps for our NB-PEI Young Guns teams will take place at the Superior Propane Centre in Moncton.
Tournament & Format
The 2023 Young Guns teams will participate in the Border Battle in Nashua New Hampshire, USA. Tournament will take place in mid August. This event has been selected based on the criteria of being the appropriate competition level as well as the dates as the Atlantic Hockey Group encourages players to take some time off from hockey in
the summer while using the mid-August to September time period to prepare for the upcoming hockey season.
The tournament will feature US and Canadian teams competing at the U9, U11, U13, and U15 levels.
Programming costs include training camp, Young Guns game jersey and socks, a practice jersey, and a minimum of four games. To help offset these costs, players can place a maximum of two sponsor bars on the back of the jersey.

Selects Program

About the Selects Program
Founded in 1995, the Selects program is the oldest and largest organization of its type in Atlantic Canada and is a unique program of the Atlantic Hockey Group. The program is elite, comprehensive and innovative. AHG's network of over 500 coaches ensures that the top players from Atlantic Canada will form our Selects teams. Our Selects teams consist of the Atlantic Selects, the NB Selects, and the NS Selects.
At the cost comparable to a hockey school, the Selects program offers a full training camp and tournament games with intense competition. Teams are comprised of deserving players from our respective Elite/AAA Series teams from our Super 7 to U15 levels. Teams are selected by a selection committee comprised of evaluators and our team's coaching staff.

Tournaments
The Atlantic Hockey Group is always searching for high-level summer tournaments to provide our Selects teams with the optimal hockey experience. Final tournament selection will be made after consulting with our teams to determine the best fit. Level of competition and exposure is considered. Over the last 25 years, our Selects teams have participated in a variety of elite tournaments in North America, including the King & Queen of the Rings tournament in Toronto, the Canada Day Cup in Ottawa, and the Jr. Warriors Showcase and the CCM Invitational in Boston.
Accomplishments
The Atlantic Selects have won 31 major championships at elite tournaments. Teams have a 75% success rate in making the playoffs and over 400 players have graduated to prep school, major junior, university, and professional hockey.

Training Camp
The three-day training camp will take place less than a month prior to the tournament. Players will receive a minimum of seven-and-a-half hours of on-ice training. The Selects male and female teams will generally have their training camps in either Halifax, NS or Moncton, NB. The objective of training camp is to develop team systems and strategies, and to provide specialized training for forwards, defencemen, and goaltenders. A goaltending instructor is present for on-ice training sessions. The final team rosters will comprise of six defencemen, nine forwards, and two goaltenders.
