About the Young Guns

Modeled after our Atlantic Selects program, the Young Guns program has enjoyed great success since it's creation in 2010, winning 25+ championships against elite competition from Canada and the United States. Teams are made up of players from our Prospects Series in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI.

Coaching Staff and Training Camp

Each team will be led by a head coach and two assistant coaches chosen from our Prospects Series teams from Nova Scotia (NS Young Guns) and from New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island (NB-PEI Young Guns).  The team coaching staff, with the support of the Atlantic Hockey Group, will structure training camps with the objective of developing team systems and specialized individual training for our players. Players will receive 7.5 hours of on-ice training. A goaltending instructor will be present for on-ice training sessions. The final team rosters will comprise of nine forwards, six defencemen, and two goalies. The final team rosters will be determined in early June.

NS Young Guns

Training Camps for our NS Young Guns teams will generally take place at the BMO Centre in Halifax or the Pictou County Wellness Centre.

NB-PEI Young Guns

Training Camps for our NB-PEI Young Guns teams will take place at the Superior Propane Centre in Moncton.

Tournament & Format

The 2023 Young Guns teams will participate in the Border Battle in Nashua New Hampshire, USA. Tournament will take place in mid August. This event has been selected based on the criteria of being the appropriate competition level as well as the dates as the Atlantic Hockey Group encourages players to take some time off from hockey inthe summer while using the mid-August to September time period to prepare for the upcoming hockey season. The tournament will feature US and Canadian teams competing at the U9, U11, U13, and U15 levels. Programming costs include training camp, Young Guns game jersey and socks, a practice jersey, and a minimum of four games. To help offset these costs, players can place a maximum of two sponsor bars on the back of the jersey.
